The idea of the present research firstly started since my work in the
Architectural design field, in the Ministry of Teaching and Education,
especially the department of Education Building design. Since, the
application of the law of free education in the last period in Yemen, in
order to give a chance for all people to have a good education, is
accompanied with the absence of an experience educational basement.
Therefore, the educational buildings are not able to accompanied the
large increasing in the number of students, moreover, the absence of the
law and regulations that control the design and construction processes
significantly affect the development of education and education building,
hence any study aimed to develop the education and teaching field and
school building should take into account the situation of these buildings
and how can be developed to be in the same level chorded with the other
developments take place in the educational and teaching processes.
The present study which consist of four parts, which is originally
based on the idea of how to serve the previous aim. The first part explain
a historical review of the developments in education and school buildings
within differem human civilizations and different ages. The second part
deals with the design and construction considerations and criterions of
school buildings within these periods, while the third part give a common
idea about the education and teaching in Yemen, taking into account the
historical development of school buildings and the educational system in
Yemen. The fourth part is an analytical and evaluation study for a
different samples of the most common school buildings, since most of
these samples is concentrated in Sanaa, thus the study take the most
common samples in allover the country in order to predict the
conclusions and give a suitable recommendations.
