The way we work is changing.Businesses have revolutionized workplace management and work settings have gone through several evolutions. The latest change that has swept up the business world by storm is coworking. And as the coworking concept evolves, coworking like movement by large companies gradually appeared.Empirical evidence and research have continually emphasized how the rise of coworking and flexible workspaces has redefined the way how people work.Yet,existing research, journals, and articles has a limited focus on coworking and flexible space that deals with the corporate sector. The research aims to identify the different approach of corporates to different coworking and flexible space types. It will also identify the benefits and challenges that corresponds to the different types of flexible spaces. To acquire a deeper insight into why large companies are shifting into coworking,a qualitative study was used on 5 coworking and flexible workspaces situated in the city of Beijing and Shanghai. This exploratory case study approach will enable a mixture of sources and techniques to be integrated into the overall research design. The findings of the research identified four types of approach corporates are adopting towards the use of coworking and flexible spaces.Individual memberships of coworking spaces, occupying private spaces to coworking and flexible space areas,co-branding a space to drive innovation, and coworking and flexible spaces within the company’s premises.Another five observed benefits that illustrate the increase demand for coworking and flexible office solutions in the corporate sector are distinguished. It was revealed that flexible workspace experience supports the corporate employee’s wellbeing and work-life balance,it is cost effective and relieves financial risk for large companies,it is flexible on lease terms and gives flexibility to employees,it drives quick innovation through collaboration, and has a great opportunity for expanding network. However, challenges were discovered which can interfere the efficient operation of corporates through coworking. It was found out that employees have less privacy and having trouble focusing than in traditional office. The lack of corporate culture within the coworking or flexible space may also hinder the achievement of the company’s goal.As well as a high risk of data breaches, copyright infringement and company clashes.Lastly,an in-house coworking space may be costly. The coworking and flexible space industry are expanding and rapidly changing. This research was intended as an initial practical study that can lead to a larger study for future researchers.
