The study was set to examine the integration of soft skills in secondary classrooms in Multan.Pakistan.This research study was guided by four research questions:-What are the perceptions of teachers about the importance of integration of soft skills in secondary classrooms? How do they integrate the soft skills in secondary classrooms? What are the difficulties that hinder integration of soft skills in teaching? What strategies they suggest to improve the development of soft skills? The data was gathered at source through questionnaires and interviews and analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively and the results helped in materializing the objectives.A sample of 386 secondary public and private teachers was drawn for this study.Total 380 Questionnaires were distributed and six(6)individual face-to-face,semi structured interviews were used to gather data from secondary school teachers.Interviews were also held with both public and private secondary school teachers so that comparisons of methodology of soft skill teaching/modeling could be made. The theoretical framework of current research study was based on Mesirow’s transformational theory.Soft skills are the generic skills that integrate both cognitive and non-cognitive skills. The inability of secondary school graduates to demonstrate soft skills has become a source of concern to educational stakeholders.Students are unable to link classroom outcomes to their real-life situation because they lack the requisite soft skills. In order to match the world and be the part of future,Pakistan needs to focus on this issue.Secondary education in Pakistan has mostly been pressed with the notions of academic achievement, leaving less or no place for including non-academic skills as a desired objective of education.Based on the finding, teachers are aware, understand and perceived that integration of the soft skill is important in secondary classrooms for students to make them prepare for their professional carriers. There was no significant difference between male and female and public or private secondary school teachers’ perceptions of integration about the ways of teaching soft skills. However, the teachers can make efforts at their end to inculcate soft skills in students as an important component of classroom instruction. Some methods recommend to improve soft skills are parents should be provided with awareness on developing soft skills in students and the most important teachers training should be based on the integrating soft skills in teaching.
