The total awareness rate among floating population, school-based students and the total awareness rate of female sex workers, rural residents and urban residents was statistically significant (χ2 = 30.02, P <0.01). There was no significant difference between male and female awareness rate (χ2 = 1.36, P> 0.05). The awareness rate of 25 years old group was higher than that of 25 years old age group (χ2 = 15.63, P <0.01) The rate of awareness was lower than that of junior middle school and above (χ2 = 4.59, P <0.05). The higher proportion of access to AIDS prevention knowledge is television (58.0%) and publicity (51.2%). Conclusion The total awareness rate of syphilis knowledge is not high enough, especially for school-going students and floating population. Publicity and education on STDs such as syphilis should be increased to raise public awareness and ability to prevent syphilis.
