An Overview To calculate the bottom seepage pressure of the dam, there are two kinds of exact solution and approximate solution in the numerical solution method. The exact solution is only used if the boundary conditions are very simple, and the calculation is troublesome; if the foundation is limited in depth, the calculation is more complicated. There are many methods to approximate the solution. The resistance coefficient method is commonly used in countries such as the Soviet Union. In recent years, it has begun to use the method of extension of the diameter of the seepage. The resistance coefficient method needs to be calculated with the help of a set of special formulas, and the accuracy is better. It has also been adopted in China. Mao Yongxi and Zhou Baozhong of Nanjing Water Conservancy Science Research Institute also proposed to improve the drag coefficient method. The calculation range is larger than the drag coefficient method and the calculation accuracy is improved. However, the calculation workload is also slightly higher.
