Recently seen a group of figures on Internet users in China, all from China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC). Because of its statistics from the authority, people are quite a few heavy feeling. What surprised me most is the problem of “generation gaping.” According to the data, by the end of 1998, China’s Internet users totaled 2.1 million. Among them, people aged 16-30 occupy 77.8%. In other words, of the 40-plus-year-olds in China, only 40 to 10,000 people have taken to the internet. What is the concept behind this? People over the age of 30 basically constitute the “mainstream” of society and are at the leading level in society. In such an important age group, only the insignificant 400,000 people, using the Internet, are far from the main theme of the “knowledge-based economy” in the “Internet age.” Even more surprising is the Internet users over the age of 40, accounting for only 3/5 of the 2.1 million users, that is, more than 100,000 people. More than 40 years of age, but also the leadership of all levels of our society, the elite of technology, cultural celebrities lie, but the awareness of the Internet is so weak, are not afraid to lose the net age Internet?
