多年来的能源地质工作表明,鄂尔多斯盆地是一个既有丰富煤炭资源,又有石油、天然气勘探前景的中新生代大型内陆坳陷盆地,煤田地质工作取得了丰硕成果,但油气寻找工作进展不大。笔者等在前人工作的基础上,结合实地考察,对盆地中、新生代沉积和以中下侏罗统延安组宝塔山段砂砾岩的岩相古地理环境与聚煤作用为重点的研究后,认为盆地在三叠纪—早第三纪时期(包括原鄂尔多斯盆地、银川-六盘山盆地、“古陆梁”在内)是一个基底不均衡沉降、普遍接受中新生代沉积、构造变动不大的不对称向斜坳陷盆地;盆地沉积过程中起主导作用的古宝塔河流向自东向西;盆地沉积中心、聚煤中心位于西南部的宁夏固原-海原地区.固原-海原地区既是盆地沉积中心、聚煤中心,也是盆地大型不对称向斜构造的轴部,是盆地有希望找到大油、气田的远景区.

On the basis of previous work and combined with the field investigation, the author focused on the research on the Mesozoic and Cenozoic sediments and the lithofacies palaeogeographic environment and coal accumulation in the Baotaishan section of the Lower-Middle Jurassic Yan’an Formation , It is believed that the basin was an imbalanced basal sedimentation during the Triassic to early Tertiary period (including the Ordos Basin, Yinchuan-Liupanshan Basin and the “ancient continental beam”), and generally accepted Meso-Cenozoic sedimentation and tectonics Little change in the asymmetric syncline depression basin; the basin plays a leading role in the process of paleo Pa Pa River flows from east to west; basin sedimentary center, coal accumulation center is located in the southwestern Ningxia Guyuan - Haiyuan area.Guiyuan - Haiyuan area It is not only a basin sedimentary center and a coal accumulation center but also a shaft with a large asymmetric syncline structure in the basin. It is a prospective area where the oil and gas fields are expected to be found in the basin.
