This year, the staff of the Wall Street Journal in New York City, the United States, warmly celebrated the centenary of the newspaper’s publication. The newspaper is the first nationwide successful professional national newspaper. In 1870, journalists Charles Dow and Edward Jones co-founded Dow Jones in New York. The company formerly run the publishing industry, after opening a stock exchange, engaged in stock broking activities. The company became one of the dozens of big financial conglomerates in the United States after the Second World War, but still has the dual characteristic of being a press and publishing consortium on the one hand and a stock exchange consortium on the other. In 1889, Dow Jones Company founded The Wall Street Journal. The newspaper mainly reports on economic news. It publishes a great deal of news and commentary on the U.S. treasury, banking, stocks, investments, taxes, prices and more.
