Travel is one of the most important themes in Indian novelist Chiangpa Raheli’s novels. This is not only related to the tradition of American classical literature but also to Rasheli’s own discrete experience. In the travel writing by “same-name people”, the first generation of immigrants expressed their infinite attachment to their homeland and their homeland through their frequent trips back to their home countries in the hope of realizing cultural roots. However, because things are different from others, such endeavors often end in failure. This failure led discrete individuals to realize that they had no way to go but to move forward. Second-generation immigrants deepened their understanding of home-country culture through travel, and negotiated with home-country cultures and their own multicultural background. Li’s characters realize self-growth while traveling and construct a discrete identity in constant movement.
