由于张爱玲的日常生活向人性掘进很深,小说的内向性不仅使她写出了人类安稳的一面(平静的日常生活),而且使她写出了常态人生受到的冲击与震荡(变形的日常生活)。这种震荡与冲击或来自社会,或根自人本身。为了凸显这种日常世界的变动性,张爱玲在两个方向上进行了艺术开掘。一是社会层面,战争的巨大破坏力将人类与文明推向了末世视野,人的存在被完全颠覆;一是欲望与人格层面,性变态等精神奴化形式绞杀着一个个痛苦挣扎的灵魂,这形成张爱玲对疯狂化日常世界的一种管窥。张爱玲试图在更为疯狂化的日常生活图景(主要是性变态与末世视野)中找寻走出人性迷宫的另一条阿里阿德涅彩线!
