轧钢机上广泛使用布胶轴承,但生产每平方米的布胶板约需250~300米~2的棉布与占其总重50%的酚醛树脂,成本既高,还大量消耗稀缺的棉布与树脂,供应不能得到保证。1959年四季度起,我厂与北京市木材厂、北京林学院等单位协作,由北京市木材厂试制压缩木轴承材料,1960年三季度起在我厂试用。四年来,经过不断改进设计与加工,目前我厂全部热轧机上(515轧机,400轧机,270轧机,400轧机和450轧机),除个别的瓦肩外,已全部改用压缩木轴承,效果很好。为国家节约大量棉布、树脂;生产成本降低,其费用只有布胶的3—5%;使用寿命长:在转速较快的270轧机上也达到两个月,已接近或达到布胶轴承的正常使用寿命。
