Objective To investigate the significance of serum lipid-associated sialic acid (LSA) content in the diagnosis of leukemia. 2 Methods LSA levels in serum of 40 patients with leukemia and 60 healthy persons were measured by sialic acid rapid diagnostic method. The results were compared, and the correlation between peripheral blood leukemia cell number and LSA was observed. 3 Results Serum LSA levels in patients with leukemia were significantly higher than those in the control group. There was a significant difference between the two groups (t = 4.44, P < 0.001), and there was no significant correlation between the number of leukemia cells and the degree of myelodysplasia and LSA. r = 0.17, -0.13, P > 0.05). 4 Conclusions Serum lipid-binding sialic acid assays are an important auxiliary indicator for the diagnosis of leukemia.
