Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is the process by which a varying, high milliampere current produces a magnetic field-induced induction of electric field action on intracranial excitable tissue. TMS is widely used in the research and treatment of Parkinson’s disease for its advantages of deep stimulation, painless and non-intervention. At present, the pathophysiological mechanism of abnormal gait in patients with Parkinson’s disease is not clear, and the treatment is very difficult. In recent years, TMS has made great progress in the study of gait abnormalities in patients with Parkinson’s disease. Now the TMS principle and in patients with Parkinson’s disease gait abnormalities in the research and treatment of the application and progress are reviewed.
