我第一次看见梦莉是一九九二年在京东一家宾馆,当时我是去拜访台湾的郑明娳教授,由于太远,张炯和我同行,没想到应声开门的不是小巧玲珑的郑教授,而是雍容大方的梦莉。当时的我还不认识她,张炯和她攀谈起来,我在一旁静心观看,心想,真不愧是海外华人女作家中的美人。以后在庐山,在北京见面,我们也就成了熟人。梦莉是位不大爱多讲话的人,然而又并不给你拒人千里的感觉。她的眼睛会说话,茸茸的双眼看着你,嘴角挂着微笑,你就会感到她似乎已和你讲了许多。此后收到梦莉两本散文,一是天津百花出版的《梦莉散文选》,一是泰国八音出版的《在月光下砌座小塔》。这时我才开始阅读她的作品。在梦莉笔下,我感到自己得到许多艺术享受,首先是语言的享受,梦莉的文字简洁、流畅,具有相当的韵味,属于中国传统艺术语
