In this research project, an ultrasonic system developed for the non-destructive testing of railway wagons has been developed to detect fatigue cracks that may occur during the service life of axles. Also designed a special center hole probe and angle probe, used to detect the important parts of the axle. Fatigue cracks in the life of a railway wagon axle can cause catastrophic accidents. Thus early detection of fatigue cracks is of great importance, and the Marmara Center for Scientific and Industrial Research has developed for the Turkish National Railway an ultrasonic system for non-destructive inspection of the axle in service.
