为了研究阿甲同志在戏曲工作方面的成就,《人民戏剧》、《戏剧论丛》编辑部于七月、八月两次邀请首都戏剧界人士举行座谈。大家认为,阿甲同志近半个世纪以来,在进行戏曲导演艺术创造,编好演好京剧现代戏,研究戏曲理论、戏曲美学等方面,作出了许多贡献。他导演的京剧现代戏《红灯记》和《白毛女》,受到广大观众赞誉;他的论文集《戏曲表演论集》,得到国内外戏剧界的重视。李紫贵同志认为,阿甲对于戏曲理解很深,他在理论上较透彻地阐明了戏曲艺术的特点,分析了戏曲是如何从生活提炼成舞台程式的?程式又有哪些基本特点?从而使他在导演实践中能够比较妥善地解决生活和程式的关系等问题;能引导和帮助演员在戏曲舞台上创造出鲜明生动的人物形象。
