表情符最好玩的地方就在于同样的表情在不同的文化中可以表示不同的含义。这不,外国人就被中国人使用的表情符号弄晕了,以至于赶紧出了一份指南,告诉广大外国同胞们当中国人使用这些表情符时,其背后隐藏的含义。表情符最早出现在20世纪90年代的日本,被用作人们通过视觉信息进行快速交流的一种手段。现在它们已经风靡全球,这在一定程度上得益于智能手机和社交媒体平台的兴起。
The most fun part of the emoticon is that the same expression can mean different things in different cultures. This does not mean that foreigners get dizzy with the emoticons Chinese use so quickly that they have a guideline to tell the vast majority of foreign compatriots what the hidden meanings behind the Chinese characters’ use of these emoticons are. Emoticons first appeared in Japan in the 1990s and were used as a means by which people can communicate quickly through visual information. Now they have swept the globe, thanks in part to the rise of smartphones and social media platforms.
