In the twentieth century, in the western cultural world, except for the reflection of philosophy and other social thoughts on the value of life, drama also presents in its own unique form the clash of human nature’s ups and downs and the ups and downs of life. Every progress made in material civilization brings great benefits to people, meanwhile, it will inevitably bring new and severe challenges to the spiritual development and personality perfection. The reason why the modern western drama has so dizzying changes in this century is that it is the result of the development of the entire Western economy and culture in the 20th century. To some extent, it is also a product of meeting these challenges. It is helpful to carefully analyze the philosophical trend of modern western drama in thinking about the value of life and identify its gains and losses with the Marxist viewpoint. It is helpful for us to timely and prudently absorb all the valuable cultural achievements of mankind.
