Parents should teach their children that each family member must do some chores at home. Chores are good for children, even very young ones. By doing chores children can learn many important skills and duties such as helping others. Chores also teach children about fairness and keeping promises.
Parents often find it difficult to get their children to do chores or to do them correctly. Here are some suggestions which may help. Parents can creat some standards for doing the chores, and they should put up a chart (图表) in the kitchen. On the chart parents can either give points towards getting a reward(奖赏), or they can simply give a reward for finishing chores well. Finally, parents and children should decide on the reward. Instead of material rewards like candy or toys, it is better if rewards are non-material, such as a trip to the zoo with their parents, or playing computer games. For younger children, it’s probably best to have daily rewards while older children can get their rewards weekly. Once children are in the habit of doing their chores, parents can stop the reward or chart system.
