以20世纪50年代中期为界,揭示了电阻焊管技术发展的历程。50年代中期以前,电阻焊管除加热采用电外,基本上沿袭连续炉焊管的生产工艺,并利用热张力减径设备以提高低频焊接钢管的焊缝质量,减少带钢的宽度供应规格,提高设备的生产能力。随着高频焊接技术引入焊管生产,如果仍采用热张力减径工艺,就会增加建设投资和经营费用,影响产品质量,也不可能对焊管做到“无缝化”。结合国外在这方面的一些研究成果,对“焊管无缝化”观点进行了指正,提出了发展我国电阻焊管技术的见解。
