Light Reading After years with Apple and Google, some mobile operators began to feel tired, and they plan to jointly launch a unified mobile application store against Apple and Google. The top five carriers are AT & T, Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, Verizon Wireless and Telefonica, whose idea was to create a unified mobile app store system that allows users to purchase and download applications from each other’s app stores. Expected in September of this year, the beta version of the application store will be on the line. The main plan behind this move is Michel Berger, head of technology strategy and product architecture at Vodafone. Over the years, he has been promoting the idea that operators should expose application programming interfaces (APIs) in the appropriate text at the right time to provide more
