For me, Miyajima is like a sunny escape. Twenty years ago, there were two places in Hiroshima City that were registered as World Cultural Heritage sites, Kuroshitsuji Dome and Miyajima Itsukushima Shrine. The former was the site of the atomic bombing of 1945 and is now a peaceful memorial park of Yoshinori Kofu; the latter is the sacred land of Japan since ancient times.
