Portugal is one of the oldest countries in Europe. Its economic, social and cultural development is lagging behind in EU countries and its country has a long history of dictatorship. After the 1974 revolution, the trend of democratization, liberalization and freedom, liberalization and privatization of Portuguese society started to push the centralization of Portuguese media industry. The media in Portugal showed distinct features different from those of other veteran capitalist countries in Europe. The control power of dictatorships, authoritarian governments and democracies on the media and the capital of the media industry have always been in a crisscross pattern with each other. Mass media institutions have just been liberated from the shackles of authoritarian regimes and are then put on the yoke of commercialism and become the tragic loss of social democracy.
