A large number of previous studies related to word recognition, of which a considerable number of words or letters on the tactile recognition of the study, but no Chinese pattern haptic recognition research. In order to explore the similarities and differences between the tactile recognition of the Chinese pattern and the English alphabet or the pattern of words, we first make a simple touch-match matching experiment to determine if such experiment is feasible. Ten Chinese characters with high frequency and few strokes were converted into a vibrating tactile pattern on a 6 × 2 4 tactile vibrometer. Since Chinese characters are more complex than the one-finger vibration patterns used in the conventional haptic pattern recognition experiment, we have to Chinese characters into double-finger mode, that is, using two vibrating display to present a mode, the trial was two-finger contact with the vibration piece. Ten Chinese native speakers and native English speakers who never learned Chinese characters made a haptic and visual pattern matching test of these Chinese characters. The results showed that the match scores of the two groups of subjects were very low and no significant difference was found. As a result, May be due to the two-finger model, which can not fully explain the Chinese model is too difficult for tactile identification, so we use the usual structure of the single-finger model to build two-finger model, single-finger model complexity differences only in the amount of The results showed that although the recognition results of two-finger mode are worse than those of single-finger recognition, the cognitive characteristics of recognition such as reaction competition and perceptual competition effect in interference are the same.
