(美刊《Technology update》,1989年11月13日,Vol,45,No.46)
Many computer-aided software engineering experts say that Japan may replace the U.S. leadership in software engineering. In Japan’s efforts for software engineering, quality, employee numbers, and training are constantly emphasized. Recyclability is being given special attention. According to E. Jurden, a computer-aided evaluation expert, an average of 70-80% of the codes in a Japanese software development store are reused. Japan is also planning to establish a nationwide repository of repositories and reusable codes, based on a 1985 study that predicted that there will be a shortage of procedures.
