Liu Zhi-ji, a historian theorist in the Tang Dynasty, first proposed the question of whether or not the fiction material can enter history, but he is still rather confused and in a paradoxical situation that may or may not seem plausible. In the Ming Dynasty, Hu Yinglin directly responded to the question raised by Liu Zhi-v and pointed out clearly that novels can enter history and discussed how to enter history. This laid the foundation for future academic discussions. This academic debate between them is not only an important confrontation in the development of ancient Chinese historiography criticism, but also a concrete example of continuous improvement and progress of the theory of ancient Chinese historiography in the debate.
