1996年,通过工会运动和国际自由贸易联盟协作共同发起了世界职业安全卫生日活动,以纪念因工受伤或死亡的工人。2001年4月24日,国际劳工组织总干事胡安·索玛维亚批准,将每年的4月28日作为国际职业安全卫生纪念日。从2001年起,国际劳工组织每年都关注并支持各国开展纪念活动。该活动作为各国政府、雇主、工人三方开展的职业安全卫生活动之一。2001年,全球有100多个国家在4月28日开展了纪念活动。2003年,有50多个国家组织开展了各种形式的活动,现将一些国家开展世界职业安全卫生日的纪念活动概述如下:
In 1996, the World Occupational Safety and Health Day was jointly launched through the union movement and the International Free Trade Association to commemorate workers injured or killed in work. On April 24, 2001, Juan Somavia, Director-General of the International Labor Organization, approved the annual April 28 International Occupational Safety and Health Day. Since 2001, the ILO has been paying attention to and supporting the commemoration activities of all countries every year. This activity is one of the occupational safety and health activities carried out by the governments, employers and workers of all countries. In 2001, more than 100 countries around the world carried out a commemorative event on April 28. In 2003, more than 50 national organizations carried out various forms of activities. The commemorations of some countries on World Occupational Safety and Health Day are summarized as follows:
