浦东机场日起降航班500多架次。当飞机降落时,轮胎摩擦道面留下的橡胶会降低跑道的摩擦系数。当摩擦系数降到规定的最低标准0.41以下,就会严重影响降落安全,因此必须对跑道进行定期除胶。目前,我国机场采用的除胶方法是较常用的高压水柱冲刷除胶,一般认为水压在850kg为宜。浦东机场通航后不久,跑道曾出现除胶后摩擦系数仍维持在0.41
