为山水画者,当以五代、北宋诸家为旨归。其间佳构,多呈磅礴恢宏、静谧超然之境界。或曰此为“无我之境”。此无我,非真无我,乃舍个人即时性之小我,得具历时性之大我也。自汉儒董仲舒为“天人合一”立论,后人多趋从之,为画者尤喜此语。
