大通县宝库林场始建于1959年,位于大通县西北角大坂山下,地理坐标北纬36°55′-37°32′,东经100°52′-101°39′,东西长66公里,南北宽44公里,是西宁市重要的水源涵养林区,是黑泉水库和西宁市第七水源的水源林。林区三面环山,地处大通县脑山地区,海拔2610米-4600米。宝库林区总面积为131864公顷,林业用地面积88567．1公顷,占林区总面积的36．8％,林区覆盖率为34．3％,其中乔木林覆盖率为1．4％,灌木林覆盖率为32．9％。林业用地面积中灌木林面积为68118．3公顷,其次为宜林灌丛16796．9公顷,有林地1841．9公顷、疏林地65．9公顷、未成林造林地1723．9公顷、苗圃15．7公顷。全林区活立木蓄积量为129916.2立方米。林场现有职工22人,有专业技术人员5名(高级工程师1名,工程师2名)。林场主要从事资源保护、公益林建设、育苗生产、病虫鼠害防治和旅游工作。
