茶树果实为蒴果,外表光滑,每果大部份为三室,每室有四个胚珠,能发育结实的多为1—2个,亦有3—4个。茶树幼果的形成是从受精结束后开始的,一般经八、九个月的发育至第二年六、七月间幼果基本定型,,再经三、四个月至九月底或十月上旬,果实逐以成熟,十月中、下旬已达盛熟期,从茶花盛放至果实的成熟,为期约一周年左右,这就是茶果发育的年周期。所以十月间均可
