In China,students start learning English as a Second Language(ESL) as early as in kindergarten.By the time they enter college,they have had thoroughly trained by traditional grammar -based approaches to language instruction.However,in general,students find English classes boring because lessons are mechanical and quite predictable.To change this situation,using games in classes proves to be a good choice.This paper makes an analysis of usefulness and significance of games in university ESL classes with an indicative example and student’s survey.Some problems involved are also pointed out and followed by a series of solutions and suggestions.
