我厂四辊冷轧机(工作辊直径165毫米)原上下轧辊间调整间隙只有6毫米,当新轧辊的工作部分由φ165毫米磨削到φ159毫米时,上支撑辊座瓦的下端面A就与上工作辊座瓦的上端面B靠到一起;下工作辊座瓦的D面也与下下支承辊的C面靠在一起(参看图1)。因此,每年有大量半新不旧,尚可使用的轧辊报废。1984年,我们对原设备进行了简单的改造,取得了良好的效果。这种改造方法非常简单,只要将上、下支撑辊座瓦的端面A和C各刨去6毫米(见图2),这样就使调整间隙由原来的6毫米增大到18毫米,延长了轧辊的使用寿命。
