At the end of 1997, as the world’s football fans looked forward to the exciting and lasting one-hundredth of the century, the ’98 World Cup, a century-long dispute in the IT industry quietly unveiled. The global information industry giant “Microsoft” was put on the antitrust court in the United States. At this point, a long-running “battle” began and has not yet ended. At the heart of the debate is Microsoft’s Web browser software, IE4.0. Why is a small software attacked by the most authoritative and most prestigious anti-monopoly law in the United States? Why did a “giant” who once rewritten part of human history suffer such a heavy blow?
