Cuba is located in the northwestern Caribbean, with an area of about 110,000 square kilometers and a population of about 11 million. It belongs to a small country in the third world. The disintegration of the former Soviet Union and the long-term economic blockade by the United States have caused Cuba’s shortage of oil and gas, electricity, food and medicine and caused great difficulties for economic development and people’s livelihood. However, this did not stop the Cubans’ love and pursuit of sports and did not stop the rapid development of Cuban sports. Cuba won a total of 6 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals at the Montreal Olympics in 1976, ranking 8th in the group; fourth in the Moscow Olympics in 1980; and won 14 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronzes at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games, Ranking fifth in the world In the nearly 100-year history of the Olympic Games, only 13 countries won 14 gold medals at a time, with only 23 countries entering the top 5. If calculated on a population basis, Cuba will rank first in the world in terms of gold medal and medal, ranking among many economically developed countries.
