古籍作为图书馆特殊的文献，具有珍贵的文物价值和史料价值，一些图书馆为了保存好古籍原件，对读者利用作了很多很多限制，造成了古籍保存和利用的矛盾。在网络环境下，通过图书馆现代化技术，包括缩微技术、数字化技术复制保存古籍，为解决这一矛盾和实现古籍网上资源共享提供了新的途径。
