Recurrence of endometrial cancer in the brain is a rare event generally accompanied by limi ted life expectancy. We present an unusual case of long -te rm survival follow-ing surgical resection of an intracranial endometrial cancer metastasis. The present case is a patient with FIGO stage IIB,grade III endometrial cancer which recurred 2months following completion of primary therapy with an isolated lesion in the brain.Aggressive trim odal therapy was initi-ated with curative intent and she has remained without clinical or radiographic evidence o f disease for more than30months following treatment of her recurrence.Aggres-sive multi -modal therapy is warrant ed in the treatment of isolated intracranial recurrences of endometrial cancer in carefully selected patients. With c omplete surgical resec-tion of disease, the precise nature a nd role of adjuvant treatment has yet to be clearly defin ed.
Recurrence of endometrial cancer in the brain is a rare event generally accompanied by limi ted life expectancy. We present an unusual case of long-te rm survival follow-up surgical resection of an intracranial endometrial cancer metastasis. The present case is a patient with FIGO stage IIB, grade III endometrial cancer which recurred 2months following completion of primary therapy with an isolated lesion in the brain. Aggressive trim odal therapy was initi-ated with curative intent and she has yet without clinical or radiographic evidence of disease for more than 30 months following treatment of her recurrence. Aggres-sive multi-modal therapy is warrant ed in the treatment of isolated intracranial recurrences of endometrial cancer in carefully selected patients. With complete surgical resection of the disease, the precise nature of nd role of adjuvant treatment has yet to be clearly defin ed.
