George Roger (1908-1955) was born in a middle-class British family and joined the merchant fleet when he came into contact with the camera and charted his own log book. After returning home he was hired by “Listener” magazine as a photojournalist. Since then he has held similar positions at the “BlackStar” photography agency, Life magazine and PicturePost magazine. He also witnessed the air war in London and the coalition’s wars in Italy, North Africa and France, recording the historic moment of the liberation of Bergen-Berssen Nazi concentration camps and Germany’s surrender with cameras. After the war, Roger (together with Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson and David Seymour) became one of the founders of Magnum Photos and continued to photograph a large number of people Palestinian tribal-related well-known photos.
