Zulu is a group of African peoples, with a population of about 11 million, mainly living in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The language they use is Zulu, a language evolved from Bantu (Bantu is one of the sub-groups of Nguni). The Zulu Kingdom was an important part of South African history in the nineteenth century. Historically, Zulu people were classified as second-class citizens and subjected to serious discrimination because of their apartheid. In South Africa today, Zulu is the most populous race, enjoying the same rights as other South Africans. Around 1709, Zulu kaNtombhela established the Zulu in what is now the KwaZulu-Natal province. At that time, Zulu was only a small tribe, the local area is dominated by many tiny Nguni tribes and clans.
