便捷的交通,绝对是促进都市发展的有利条件之一,因此都市有效扩张发展,建构完整计划的道路交通系统即是最佳途径。公元1900年日治时期的“市区改正计划”是台中市今日都市计划的原型起点,基于卫生考量的四十五度格子棋盘式的街道系统,开启台中都市计划性的发展模式;1908年台湾南北纵贯铁路全线通车完成后,开始启动台中市区的发展变化;1985年台湾第一条南北高速公路完成后,台中市的都市发展明显地看出形成以旧市中心区为轴心,向外朝西主要往高速公路方向做辐射状扩张发展。
Convenient traffic is definitely one of the favorable conditions for promoting urban development. Therefore, it is the best way for an urban city to effectively expand its development and construct a complete plan of road transport system. In the Japanese period of 1900, the “Urban Correction Plan” was the starting point for the prototype of today’s urban planning in Taichung. The 45-degree checkerboard street system based on health considerations opened up a planned development model for the urban area in Taichung. 1908 After the completion of the opening of the north-south longitudinal railway in Taiwan, the development of downtown Taichung began in 1985. After the completion of the first north-south highway in Taiwan in 1985, the urban development in Taichung clearly showed the formation of an axis centered around the old downtown , Outward westward to the direction of the main highway to do radial expansion.
