Microbes are the initiators of root canal infection and are closely related to different states of root canal infection. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology for the detection of pathogens causing pulpitis, periapical and apical abscesses, and secondary or persistent root canal infections, allows the microorganism to extract and isolate its DNA or RNA directly without isolation And other genetic material to determine their species, and its detection rate and accuracy is much higher than the traditional detection methods. This review summarizes the results of studies that use PCR to detect the distribution of microorganisms in pulpitis, periapical and apical abscesses, and secondary or persistent root canal infections.
