Recently, a team of international research scientists including the University of Melbourne discovered a new class of antibodies that make four different types of dengue virus (DENV) noninfectious. The findings may lead to better vaccine production and laboratory pilot studies that may eventually reduce the incidence of dengue fever. A study published in Nature Immunology first reported that a new antibody neutralizes all four types of dengue virus. The authors, ameron Simmons, said that this exciting discovery could pave the way for vaccine development for all four strains of dengue virus. There is an urgent need to reduce the incidence of dengue fever in humans and to understand the human immune response to the infection and the response after vaccination. This unique discovery makes vaccine pre-treatment
