There are so many myths in the South of the United States, such as the southern ladies, the white supremacy, and the hierarchical system, all of which are used to defend the evil slavery. Faulkner is the finest representative of Southern American literature. His “Yogacna Pattafa” novels, based on the southern American mythology, highly condensed the rise and fall of American southern society. Taking “Absalom and Absalom!” As an example, this article expounds Faulkner’s deconstruction of the southern myth and reveals the ultimate cause of the failure of the South.
