当历史进入世纪之交,社会主义市场经济体制在中国逐渐建立,一个崭新的课题提到了我国新闻界的面前:建设社会主义现代化报业集团,为中国报业的改革和发展探索新路。 关于社会主义现代化报业集团的定义 报业集团最早产生于欧美主要资本主义国家,迄今已有百年历史。它的产生有其历史必然性。报业集团亦称报系,英文名称是News Groups。据《辞海》(1989年版)解释,它“一般指19世纪末以来,一些资本主义国家和地区因竞争和垄断的不断加剧,由一个资本家或董事会联合一些报刊、电台、电视台所组成的集团。”为了适应社会化大生产的需要,欧美等主要资本主义国家的制造业,从19世纪后半叶起,开始出现生产集中化趋势,自由竞争向垄断企业过渡,于19世纪末、20世纪初基本完成这一转变。报业的集中和垄断出现稍晚,但进展迅速。按《中国大百科全书》(1990年版)的划分标准,同时在两个以上地区、拥有两种以上报刊的报业托拉斯可称为报团。
