This article is to determine whether non-malignant, skin-associated helper T cells also have irregular nucleus and whether these T cells represent normal cells associated with malignant tumor cells in MF and Sézary syndrome (SS). The authors collected 10 cases of benign lymphoid cell infiltrating lesions, and took a 4 mm ring drill to take a biopsy at the adjacent parts of the lesion. One prepared conventional TEM specimen and randomly calculated 100 mature lymphoid cells under transmission electron microscope, and detected the nuclear morphogenetic factor (FF) with an image analyzer; another adjacent specimen was prepared for cryosectioning with a set of monoclonal antibodies, Immunoperoxidase assays were performed on the following cell surface antigens: Leu2a, Leu3a+b, Leu4, Leu6, Leu7, Leu8, Leu9, Leu14, LeuM, LeuM5, and Ia, also with ANBE (alpha-Ninetin)
