江苏省稻麦连作区的野燕麦初步分为栽培型、杂草型两大类型;四个种即野生燕麦、野生莜麦、普通野燕麦和南方野燕麦;两个变种即无毛野燕麦变种、紫壳野燕麦变种;并有褐色野燕麦、黄稃野燕麦、白壳野燕麦、咖啡色壳野燕麦四个生态型。经切片观察,不同种野燕麦的籽实含有不同色素,其含量也不同,形成不同色泽的籽实,江苏范围内有黄色、白色、咖啡色、褐色等不同壳色的野燕麦。江苏的紫壳野燕麦、无毛野燕麦、普通野燕麦的果皮细胞排列整齐、紧密,果皮上的硅质和角质层较厚,新疆野燕麦果皮细胞较疏松,空隙度较大,果皮上的硅质、角质层较薄,其透水性、透气性较江苏上述三个样品大,抗湿性小。野燕麦籽实结构的抗湿性及其在稻田中能够越夏的特性,是江苏稻麦连作区野燕麦发生危害逐年加重的原因之一。
