随着地域的变迁和时代的更替,古老的羌族在自身形成和发展的过程中也形成和层积了许多独有的礼仪,这些礼俗,不仅影响了民族的社会生活,成为构成民族心理素质方面的重要因素,而且在一定程度上规范和决定了本民族的文学艺术的内容。羌族人民喜歌善舞,歌舞是全民族的习惯。他们把歌舞当成美德,以习俗的力量制约着每一个人,从而使人们都自觉或不自觉地投身其中。俗语说:“饭养命,歌养心”,这不仅是给歌谣的价值作了高度地概括,而且也披露了羌族人民喜歌爱舞的心理根源。
