普通彩电中一般采用带通、带阻方法分离Y/C(亮度/色度)信号,这种频率分离方法虽然具有简单易行、所用元器件少、成本低的优点,但它不能将Y、C信号彻底分离而存在着令人讨厌的亮、色相互串扰。用梳状滤波器来进行亮色信号分离,可以解决亮、色度串扰的问题,因为它是根据视频信号频谱交织的原理及梳状滤波器的梳状频率传输特性,以频谱分离的方式将亮度信号与色度信号彻底分离开。
