Customers’ frenzied purchases of the latest version of “Harry Potter” have fueled a nationwide rivalry between Amazon.corn and a single bookstore. Amazon recently announced it is ready to partner with Federal Express to send 250,000 copies of its best-selling book to users on July 8, the first day of the “Harry Potter” launch. Bookshops that run independently throughout the country will also sell the book “Harry Potter” to customers. Richard Howorth, former president of the American Booksellers Association (ABA), said: “Many independent bookshops are making their unique contribution to the book industry, and only they can do that.” We’re trying to counter some big bookstores. Following the tremendous success worldwide of the first three editions, the fourth edition of “Harry Potter” is also expected to become a bestseller.
