New York East Village from the 1970s to the 1980s can inspire public imagination forever. Club 57 is located in the basement of St. Mark’s Church in Brooklyn, New York. At the beginning of 1978, this is an independent music and movie exhibition site. It was then known as Pride of a Variety of Lives of Counterculture in New York City Center. Club 57, considered the center of East Village’s creative activities, is considered to have affected virtually every nightclub after it. The exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in New York City will be the first large-scale showcase of all the variations of this alternative space in downtown New York City and the dramatic impact that this multi-field, cross-border scene will have.
